IMPORTANT NOTE
Not everything in the following list actually works perfectly. If you find something that doesn't work (for example, you get an error message like "sorry, ... not supported"), do not hesitate to send me an email. THIS PROJECT DEPENDS ON FEEDBACK.
GCMS is capable of
- printing information on ICC profiles
- transforming images between colour spaces using pairs of ICC colour profiles (one describing the source colour space, the other describing the destination colour space)
- printing directly to a printer, using a pair of ICC profiles
Planned features of GCMS (on demand, so email me if you like to see any of these):
- a graphical user interface, possibly as a GIMP plugin, with printer colour preview (so you can tell which colours in the photograph cannot be represented by the printer)
- manipulation or creation of ICC profiles
- use of more than two ICC profiles for a transform, i.e. use of "intermediate" colour spaces, allowing you to use special effects in funny colour spaces
Supported platforms
- Linux on x86 and alpha (primary development and testing platforms)
- Compaq Tru64 5.0 on alpha (secondary testing platforms)
- in theory, and other UNIX-style operating system with an ISO/ANSI C compiler
Supported image formats
- SGP (GCMS's internal format, similar to PNM)
- PNM
Supported printers
- EPSON Stylus Colour 600 in 720x720dpi and 1440x720dpi modes
- send me an email if you want a printer supported!
